Houston Zoo Lights – 6pm – 10 pm
The Houston Zoo started their yearly Houston Zoo Lights November 23rd making this a great weekend to go see them. The lights will be viewable until January 5, 2013 – except for December 24th and 25th. (http://www.houstonzoo.org/zoolights/)
In addition to the lights the Houston Zoo has had in past years, the Houston Zoo Lights is starting a new holiday tradition you will enjoy – the “Holly Berry” – a 1958 Cadillac decked with lights that blink to the timing of joyful music.
The Houston Zoo Lights is a great family and even group activity. Bring friends or put together a group from your club. Stroll through the zoo sipping hot chocolate, eating funnel cakes, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, gingerbread men, hot chocolate, s’mores, pizzas, sandwiches – whatever appeals to you – just enjoy yourself as you ooh and awe over the lights and sights. Thousands of twinkling lights will make you smile and feel like a child again. 15 ft tall whimsical colorful projections will dazzle you. Life-size animated animal sculptures will amaze you.
… and for those of you with iPhones or the Android, you can download the Zoo’s FREE Houston Zoo Lights’ App that features a guided tour of the Houston Zoo Lights with details about the displays and a GPS-enabled map that shows you where you are on the tour.
Can’t make it to the zoo? Don’t worry. Friday November 30th at 7 p.m., get a look at Zoo Lights in the comfort of your living room with KPRC Local Channel 2′s behind-the-scenes special, “Zoo Lights: A Wild Holiday Celebration.”
