The Tower Oaks area offers a country atmosphere with half-acre to multiple acre wooded lots and is close to shopping on FM 1960 and Hwy. 290. Tower Oaks spans between N. Eldridge Parkway and Jones Road. Tower Oaks is unrestricted meaning that you will commonly see horses on the properties and room for the RV or boat. There is a voluntary HOA in place with no fees. Housing styles range from newer custom-built homes to ranch style one-story homes built in the 1960s. When Tower Oaks was established there was no shopping or housing along this section of FM 1960. Instead, there were only rural farms, pasture, and empty lots. Not so anymore! This hidden away neighborhood is now nestled between the Wortham neighborhoods, and other new communities farther down N. Eldridge Parkway. There are also many small strip centers providing dry cleaning, day care, convenience stores, local coffee bars and restaurants. Less than two miles away is a huge shopping center at the corner of N. Eldridge Parkway and FM 1960 featuring a Kroger Grocery, Kohls, PetsMart, Panera, Hallmark and many others. Target, Lowe’s and Wal-Mart are all across the street. Convenience to shopping, schools and commuting certainly abounds here.
The truly interesting thing about Tower Oaks is the uniqueness of the neighborhood. First of all it really is tucked out of view. As you drive along N. Eldridge you will catch a glimpse of some of the homes at the edges, but if you don’t know about this neighborhood, you won’t know how the streets wind around back into the woods. The streets are small. The houses are each individual, and you feel very far from all the city bustle.
